Canongate Partners Pty Ltd began in 1996 when Directors David Smith and Sandra Denholm acquired Highlife magazine.

Canongate is run by David Smith and Matthew Smith.
 

David Smith

Managing Director

David is one of Australia’s most experienced media professionals. He has worked on the China Mail in Hong Kong and The Daily Mail on Fleet Street. In Australia he was the Editor of three of the nation’s biggest selling metropolitan newspapers before moving into management, running divisions in New South Wales, South Australia and Queensland for News Limited. David was a Director of News Limited until he left the company. He acquired the ailing Highlife magazine in 1996 and made it a highly successful publication and Canongate a very successful company.
 

Matthew Smith

General Manager

Matthew joined Canongate in 2006 with experience in telecommunications in Sydney and the United Kingdom. Matthew has operational responsibilities for Canongate and has also published magazines and books since joining the business. Matthew is also heavily involved with SALIFE’s television show.
